Our approach
Our aim as PMI accredited professional independent trustees is to bring out the best in your Trustee Board and help you achieve your goals.
Our aim as PMI accredited professional independent trustees is to bring out the best in your Trustee Board and help you achieve your goals.
Our approach is simple - to establish objectives, both short and long term, and then to put in place the structures, processes and governance framework to be able to monitor and meet these objectives.
We adopt a partnership philosophy and seek to build strong working relationships between the Trustee Board, Employer and advisers. Our approach is a collaborative one based on teamwork to ensure that the Trustee Board operates as efficiently and effectively as possible.
We have experience of both DB and DC pension arrangements either as the independent Chair of the Trustee Board or as an independent trustee director working alongside the rest of the Trustee Board.
We understand the value of quality data and how this underpins everything we do as Trustees.

Jon is an ex-actuary with nearly 30 years' experience of providing actuarial and pension consultancy advice to Trustee Boards of UK defined benefit pension schemes.
These pension schemes ranged in size from £20million to £750million and related to sponsors with a variety of different ownership structures such as PLCs, privately owned companies including venture capital backed companies, UK companies with overseas parents, membership organisations, co-operative societies, universities and companies funded by UK Government. Therefore, Jon has a wide range of experience working with different organisations and different types of Trustee Boards and is familiar with most of the pension issues faced by Trustee Boards during the last 30 years.
Jon is currently independent Chair of the CBI Retirement Benefits Plan (with assets of approximately £100m) and an independent Trustee Director of the Plumbing and Mechanical Services (UK) Industry Pension Scheme (with assets of approximately £2bn).

Since becoming a professional Trustee, Andy has chaired a number of large DB and DC Trustee Boards and overseen a numerous projects including:
- Multiple de-risking projects including buy-in transactions, PIE and ETV exercises as chair of the Aon Retirement Plan;
- Review, re-tender and change of advisers;
- Establishing strategic direction and journey plans towards buy-out for five major schemes;
- Reducing Trustee Board size and critical appraisal of Board’s strengths and diversity (working with external advisers)
- DC investment strategy review and appraisal of the MasterTrust marketplace;
- The bulk transfer of 4,000 DC members to MasterTrust.
- The bulk transfer of DB liabilities and subsequent winding up of the Burlington Insurance Group Pension Plan.
